It’s just the third day after announcing the preorder availability of new iPhone 5 by Apple and now it has released interesting and shocking stats about it. Apple has announced that its new launch, the iPhone 5 which has got thinner body and 4G LTE in it, has sold 2 million units in its first weekend.
The Internet world is all fill up with the articles showing their sadness with the new features of iPhone 5 but Apple’s effect is working here as well which has resulted in this great achievement. Apple says that none of its previous launches touched this mark. The vast sales of iPhone 5 has created a history.
The 2 million sales count in first weekend comes at an average of 1389 iPhones sold per minute and 23 purchases every second. The shipping will start from September 21 in selected countries and it’s expected to hit the doorsteps in the mid-October.
Here are the words coming from Philip Schiller, Apple’s SVP of Worldwide Marketing, on this tremendous achievement.
“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal, iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”
The previous one, the iPhone 4S set a record of 1 million sales in its first weekend and iPhone 5 has touched the double of this count, in same time span.
